Prayer in Islamic View
In Islam, prayer is an activity to ask Allah for something. Prayer in Islam is the most basic part of worship. Prayers are offered by a Muslim when experiencing difficulties or being given ease in life in this world. Acceptance of prayer in Islam is determined by adab, time and place of prayer. The prayers offered by the prophets are the best prayers.
In the Qur'an, the word prayer is mentioned 20 times with different meanings. Prayer in the first sense is as a form of worship or worship. Prayer in this sense is mentioned in Surah Yunus verse 106. This verse commands humans not to pray (worship) to anything other than Allah. This deity is not able to provide benefits or harm to humans.
Prayer in the next sense is an invitation. One of the verses that interpret prayer as an invitation is Surah Al-Baqarah verse 23. This verse challenges humans to invite human helpers other than Allah if they are able. Prayer can also be interpreted as a request or request. Verses that use this understanding include Surah Al-Mu'min verse 60. This verse is God's command to humans to ask (pray) to Him. Allah will accept those who pray to Him.
Prayer can also be interpreted as calling. One of the verses that use this understanding is Surah Al-Isra' verse 52. In this verse, it is stated that there will be a day when Allah will call people. The last meaning of prayer is praise. This understanding is mentioned among others in Surah Al-Isra' verse 110. This verse commands to praise Allah or praise the Most Merciful.
Surah Al-A'raf verse 55 is one of the arguments that states the command from Allah to humans to pray. In this verse Allah commands to pray with humility in a soft voice. After that Allah mentioned that He hates humans who transgress. In the same sura but in the 51st verse, Allah commands people to pray with feelings of fear and hope. Allah considers this attitude a virtue and he declares that His mercy is very near to them.
Then in the 60th verse in Surah Al-Mu'min, Allah asks people to pray to him. Allah gives assurance that the prayer will be answered by Him. In verse 65 of the same surah, Allah commands people to pray with sincere and sincere feelings.
In Surah Yunus verse 106, Allah forbids humans to pray to other than Him. Allah mentions that those who violate this commandment are among the wrongdoers. They ask for something that is not able to bring benefit or harm to him. Then in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 186, Allah promises that He will answer the prayers of those who only pray to Him. Allah commands people to believe in Him and to listen to His call so that humans may receive guidance.
The Sunnah to pray facing the Qibla was exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad when he was wukuf at Arafah. At that time, Prophet Muhammad prayed until sunset.
In a hadith it is stated that the Prophet Muhammad rebuked a man who immediately prayed after praying in the mosque. Prophet Muhammad then asked him not to rush in prayer and asked him to say praises to Allah and salawat to the prophet first. After that, another man came who after the prayer gave praise to Allah and salawat to the prophet. Prophet Muhammad approached him and told him to pray because his prayer will be answered. Praise in prayer can use a series of sentences Asmaulhusna and sentences of monotheism. This is in accordance with the advice of Surah Al-A'raf verse 80.
The evidence for praying with a soft voice and accompanied by fear is Surah Al-A'raf verses 55-56. In this verse, God tells people to pray to Him in a soft and humble voice. The next part of the verse discusses Allah's hatred of those who transgress by doing mischief on Earth. Then Allah commanded again to pray accompanied by fear and hope for the answer to prayer.
Surah Al-Isra 'verse 10 describes the correct way to pray. It is forbidden to pray with a loud voice and it is also forbidden to pray in a whisper so that it is not heard. Praying must be somewhere between these two forbidden conditions, namely a moderate voice.

This verse reminds all humans that Allah does not need anything because He is the Most Rich and Most Praiseworthy. Humans need God. Therefore, every prayer must be accompanied by the belief that the prayer will be answered by Allah. In a hadith it is stated that Allah will follow the prejudices of His servants. Someone who prays to Allah will always get supervision from Allah. The Prophet Muhammad forbade praying with presuppositions that are uncertain. Prayers should not include the words "if Allah wills". This kind of prayer is considered as a form of doubting God in the answer of prayer. The reason is that the meaning of this prayer seeks to strengthen the answer to his prayer because of the belief that God cannot be forced to answer prayers.
In a hadith, the Prophet Muhammad mentioned that a Muslim who prays not for sins and actions that destroy brotherhood, then Allah will give one of three things in return. The first thing is the answer to prayer. The second thing is to make prayer as a savings to be used in the afterlife. The third thing is to prevent people who pray from evil. In a hadith narrated by Jabir, the Prophet Muhammad forbade praying to harm someone. This person includes oneself, property owned, children owned and servants owned. This prohibition was set because Allah can grant this prayer at a certain time which is the time for the acceptance of the prayer. In a hadith narrated by Abu Dawud, the Prophet Muhammad is known to have repeated his prayer three times.
